Summary

The long-awaited first book by the founder of the enormously popular Bullet Journal® organizational system。

For years Ryder Carroll tried countless organizing systems, online and off, but none of them fit the way his mind worked。 Out of sheer necessity, he developed a method called the Bullet Journal that helped him become consistently focused and effective。 When he started sharing his system with friends who faced similar challenges, it went viral。 Just a few years later, to his astonishment, Bullet Journaling is a global movement。

The Bullet Journal Method is about much more than organizing your notes and to-do lists。 It's about what Carroll calls "intentional living:" weeding out distractions and focusing your time and energy in pursuit of what's truly meaningful, in both your work and your personal life。 It's about spending more time with what you care about, by working on fewer things。 His new book shows you how to。。。

Track the past: Using nothing more than a pen and paper, create a clear and comprehensive record of your thoughts。

Order the present: Find daily calm by tackling your to-do list in a more mindful, systematic, and productive way。

Design the future: Transform your vague curiosities into meaningful goals, and then break those goals into manageable action steps that lead to big change。

Carroll wrote this book for frustrated list-makers, overwhelmed multitaskers, and creatives who need some structure。 Whether you've used a Bullet Journal for years or have never seen one before, The Bullet Journal Method will help you go from passenger to pilot of your own life。

I really wanted to put this down after the first few chapters, but it was worth sticking through and has inspired actual positive change in my life。

This is a very good book, I would have given it 3。5 stars if I could。 It is neat hearing Ryder's story, and how the bullet journal concept was born out of finding a solution for his own life。 And if you're a tried-and-true bullet journalist; or if you happen to prefer to take on new concepts like this slowly, step-by-step, rather than a quick 4-min YouTube overview video, then you will get good value out of this book。 You will also enjoy it if you like digging deeper into planning philosophies a This is a very good book, I would have given it 3。5 stars if I could。 It is neat hearing Ryder's story, and how the bullet journal concept was born out of finding a solution for his own life。 And if you're a tried-and-true bullet journalist; or if you happen to prefer to take on new concepts like this slowly, step-by-step, rather than a quick 4-min YouTube overview video, then you will get good value out of this book。 You will also enjoy it if you like digging deeper into planning philosophies and perspectives。 The bulk of the middle of this book (a good 1/3 of the entire book) is devoted just to this, and how those concepts are applied with the bullet journaling method。 I was most interested in the last section of the book, "advanced" techniques and ways to customize bullet journaling further。 This is where I was disappointed。 I did not find or learn anything new that I hadn't already come across online。 It was good information, and again if you're new to bullet journaling, this part will also probably be helpful for you。 But if you're looking for new, creative ways to use bullet journaling, this won't give you anything new in that area。 You'll find much more in the way of that on Pinterest and blogs。 Still, overall this is a good book - it's just ironically long, meandering, and verbose for a technique that is supposed to be quick, effective, and succinct。 I could not believe the book was over 300 pages! Not that that is excessively long for a book in general - but for a book on bullet journaling, which is effectively explained in a 4-minute video, this length seems like overkill。 If you're just wanting solutions and some effective ideas, this book is NOT your go-to。 If you're wanting to steep yourself in the stories of Ryder and a few others who have used bullet journaling and planning philosophies to gradually transform their lives, then this is the book for you。 。。。more

I have to say I don't use this method。 However, I still think it's an awesome guide for creating a very organized journal。 The book is easy to understand and follow, it's just a method that's a little too daunting for my lifestyle, however, I could probably really benefit from using this method, but I can't even keep up with my simple journal。If you're interested in a very simple system for writing a journal, this method is superior。 However, if you find it to be too much work, like me, you may I have to say I don't use this method。 However, I still think it's an awesome guide for creating a very organized journal。 The book is easy to understand and follow, it's just a method that's a little too daunting for my lifestyle, however, I could probably really benefit from using this method, but I can't even keep up with my simple journal。If you're interested in a very simple system for writing a journal, this method is superior。 However, if you find it to be too much work, like me, you may not be able to keep up the practice, but that's not the author's fault。 。。。more

I like the concepts in this book a lot and am a radical fan of this method that he invented but found the book a mix of the methodology and a lot of tangents to tell stories。

I wanted to add some ideas to my current knowledge of the bullet journal system and what better place to go than to the book written by the creator of the bullet journal process。 The audiobook is read by the author and an easy listen although the hard copy provides visual examples for newbies。 As a bonus, I was pleasantly surprised by the many motivational ideas he provided with his own personal experiences and also the many "success stories" told from fellow bullet journal users。 If you are wan I wanted to add some ideas to my current knowledge of the bullet journal system and what better place to go than to the book written by the creator of the bullet journal process。 The audiobook is read by the author and an easy listen although the hard copy provides visual examples for newbies。 As a bonus, I was pleasantly surprised by the many motivational ideas he provided with his own personal experiences and also the many "success stories" told from fellow bullet journal users。 If you are wanting a new way to plan your days and/or keep track of your many ideas, lists, goals, etc。, this book is a great start to learning a process that is customizable to everyone's individual needs。 。。。more

I’m not sure what I thought this book was going to be, but it disappointed。 I like the idea of bullet journalling, and I have actually kept a bullet journal, and although I no longer use an analog system, I still try to keep billet journal principles in mind。 I’m not sure what I thought this book would teach me, but it didn’t。 I’m afraid I just don’t buy into the more spiritual side of bullet journaling, and I felt ultimately that this book said little in a lot of words。

I've been wondering what exactly is a bullet journal。 Now I know。 This is a good introduction。 The audiobook from the library comes with an accompanying PDF, which is helpful。 I found some of the ideas inspirational。 And while I like the concept of bullet journaling, I know I would be one of those people who spend too much time decorating it and not enough time utilizing it。 The author narrated the audiobook and I enjoyed that。 I've been wondering what exactly is a bullet journal。 Now I know。 This is a good introduction。 The audiobook from the library comes with an accompanying PDF, which is helpful。 I found some of the ideas inspirational。 And while I like the concept of bullet journaling, I know I would be one of those people who spend too much time decorating it and not enough time utilizing it。 The author narrated the audiobook and I enjoyed that。 。。。more
